H e-vasilopita were presented in 2019 at 4th EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL NETWORKS in Zurich , as customs that have the potential to create a special social network based on tradition.

In this special cutting of the Vasilopita, we may miss the taste and the physical contact, but all of us will be touched by the main meaning of cutting a VASILOPITA, which is EQUALITY, COMMUNICATION, HOSPITALITY, RESPECT, JUSTICE, UNITY, LOVE, HARMONY
With your registration, this unique GATHERING of Hellenism and Philhellenes everywhere becomes even greater, and you support the goals of the e-Vasilopita of Hellenism and Philhellenes worldwide, which are:
1.- To place, alongside the global COMMERCIAL Santa Claus, the global online e-Vasilopita of Hellenism and Philhellenes everywhere.
2. – για να διαδώσουμε το όμορφο μήνυμα που εμπεριέχεται στον τρόπο με τον οποίο γινόταν η μοιρασιά των κομματιών σε κάποιες περιοχές
…το μεσημέρι που γύριζαν στο σπίτι από την εκκλησιά, ο νοικοκύρης έκοβε την βασιλόπιτα και μοίραζε τα κομμάτια ως εξής:
«Το πρώτο ήταν Του Χριστού και Της Παναγίας, το δεύτερο του Αϊ-Βασίλη, το τρίτο του Σπιτιού, μετά του νοικοκύρη, της νοικοκυράς, της δουλειάς, τα υπόλοιπα των μελών της οικογένειας, ένα για τα ζώα, ένα για τα σπαρτά, ένα για τον επισκέπτη-ξένο και ένα για τον φτωχό.» (έθιμα ΠΡΟΠΟΝΤΙΔΑ-ΒΙΘΥΝΙΑ – ΑΝ. ΘΡΑΚΗ)
και
3. – για να φέρουμε με ευχάριστο (με ένα έθιμο) και εύκολο (με το διαδίκτυο) τρόπο, πιο κοντά στην Ελλάδα στα έθιμα, στις παραδόσεις μας και στην Ελληνική γλώσσα, απόδημους ομογενείς, φιλέλληνες και ιδίως την απόδημη νεολαία μας 4ης και 5ης γενιάς για την οποία το διαδίκτυο αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό μέρος της «αυλής» τους.
Ενας απο τους συμμετέχοντες, από τη Νότια Αμερική (Χιλή), μας έγραψε πριν μερικά χρόνια “Η e-βασιλόπιτα ήταν η μόνη κοπή βασιλόπιτας στην οποία συμμετείχα φέτος….”

In this special vasilopita cutting there won’t be any taste or personal contact, but the point of cutting vasilopita will touch us all, which is communication, equality, hospitality, love, concord, respect, justice, unit

The goals of the e-vasilopita
1.) to place the global e-vasilopita of worldwide Hellenism and philhellenes next to the global Santa Claus,
2.) to spread the wonderful message that is incorporated in the way the distribution of the pieces was done
…when they came back home from church at noon, the host used to cut the vasilopita and give out the pieces as follows;
“One piece for Christ, one for Holy mother, one for Santa Claus, one for housholder, one for his wife, one for every member of the family, one for the animals, one for the crops, one for the guest and one for poor ” (customs Propontida-Vithynia-East Thrace)
3.) To bring, in a pleasant and easy for them way, close to Greece and our customs, our traditions and the Greek language, expatriates, philhellenes and mostly the emigrant youth of the 4th and 5th generation for whom the internet constitutes an important part of their interests.
In e-vasilopita there is a flouri (gold coin) and there are also “signs” symbols (like wheat, vine, olive leaf, pomegranate, corn etc as people used to put in the traditional vasilopitas in some parts of Greece, Thrace, Epirus etc) Registrations for Greeks and philhellenes of any age is totally free.
By logging in you will be placed at your table-group where you will get – next to your name- a piece of e-vasilopita. Then you have to click on it, so that the piece turns upside-down to see what is inside, the flouri or a symbol. If you get a SYMBOL you have to click on it to see, in a new window, the meaning for the new year.
It should be noted that you do not need to be online the moment of the cutting and that you can click on your piece after the cutting.
One of the participants, from South America (Chile), wrote to us a few years ago “The e-vasilopita was the only vasilopita i participated in this year”
