February 21st has been designated as International Mother Language Day (UNESCO).

We invite you and the entire Hellenic community—from Greece, Cyprus, the Hellenic Diaspora, as well as all Philhellenes—to register for free to receive your "piece" [traditionally kiss/blessing] in the cutting of the global virtual e-Vasilopita for 2027, which will take place online right here on February 21, 2027. Let us "GATHER TOGETHER" on February 21, 2027, through this unique custom of ours at a global "table"—Greeks and Philhellenes from around the world. It is free,it is simple, and through your participation, the message of the event—"...one piece for the animals, one for the crops, one for the visiting guest, and one for the poor"—becomes even more meaningful, even greater. Registrations made after that will be carried over to the AR e-Vasilopita cutting of the following year.

After your registration, you will be able to (Login) visit your table(group). On the day of the cutting, a piece of e-vasilopita will appear next to your name and by clicking on it, it will turn upside down and you will see what is inside(Flouri or Symbol). It should be noted that you do not need to be online on the day and time of the cutting. You can look for the FLOURI in your piece any other day, after the cutting.

According to the Greek folklore, the cutting of the vasilopita was done in almost all parts of Hellenism as follows: (with small variations locally)

At midday, when they returned from church, the head of the household would cut and distribute the pieces as follows: "for Christ, for the Virgin Mary, for Saint Basil, for the house, for the master of the house, for the lady of the house, the rest for the members of the family, one for the animals, one for the crops, one for the guest/visitor, and one for the poor.’”
